Celebrating 30 years of Newport, Michel Herbelin designs a special Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph. The 316L stainless steel case, 43.5 millimetres in diameter, is entirely covered in anthracite-grey PVD and is both brushed and polished to emphasise its three-faceted outline. The push-pieces, now faceted and rectangular in shape, are located on either side of the crown, which is notched conical shape, accentuating the geometry of the case. The bezel, which matches the case, bears the discreetly engraved name “Newport” and five screws reminiscent of sailing boat windlasses, and reveals a dial displaying a carefully balanced combination of practical information and functions for everyday life. Framed by the minute track on a circular brushed blue flange, the black carbon backdrop matches the black nickel hands specially designed by Michel Herbelin. The hands are partially finished with a luminescent coating, as are the imposing hour markers, for optimal readability. A precision instrument adapted to numerous activities, this tri-compax chronograph can record elapsed times up to 12 hours. Redesigned to accentuate the sporty aspect of the model, three dedicated sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock display 30-minute and hour counters and a small seconds hand. Finished in the same blue as the flange, they offer a subtle contrast to enhance the legibility of the data. And a whimsical touch that stands out from the rest by its red colour: the number 30 on the counter at 3 o’clock. A nod to the 30th anniversary of the emblematic Newport. Water resistant to 100 metres, this Michel Herbelin timepiece is garnished with a strap in FKM rubber, an extremely tough material. Meticulously finished for comfort on the wrist and designed specially to continue the line of the central attachment through to the buckle, its smooth, glossy appearance stylishly complements the sporty chic of this limited edition. With a new Swiss-made Sellita SW510 mechanical movement on board, oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and incorporating 25 jewels, the Newport Chronograph offers a 42-hour power reserve. The transparent case back reveals an oscillating mass engraved Michel Herbelin and decorated with a Cites de Geneve pattern, proffering a glimpse of the circular-grained bridges and frame. A delight for connoisseurs of fine mechanisms. . .As with all of the brand?s timepieces, this new-generation Newport was drawn, designed, assembled, adjusted and inspected at the Michel Herbelin studio in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comt? region. Heir to a French watchmaking tradition stretching back over 70 years, it offers the assurance of stringent technical standards.
